Along with the core values of creating leaders on and off the battlefield and helping cadets excel in the classroom, Cadets in SQ-23 voluntarily dedicate time to organizations and functions on and off the quad. These organizations range from TAMU student organizations like Student Senate to special units that teach combat tactics. The following is a list of organizations and special units that Cadets in 23 are currently involved in:

Student BonfireBonfire is about the burning desire to beat the hell outta t.u. It builds leadership and camaraderie between students of any origin. Bonfire is about being a part of something bigger than yourself. Every log that goes on Bonfire is cut, moved, loaded, unloaded, and stacked by hand by students. The 2009 Student Bonfire had over 1500 participants.

Ross Volunteers* It is the oldest student organization in the state, and an honor company composed of junior and senior cadets. The unit is the official honor guard for the Governor of Texas.

Spearhead Company* Specifically focuses on training students, Corps of Cadets members and non corps members alike, physically and mentally for the tasks they will encounter when applying for Officer Candidate School.  This particular special unit is geared towards Cadets who are in pursuit of Marine Corps Platoon Leaders Course contracts, but is open to anyone looking to learn more about the Marine Corps and get some great PT.

Marine Recon Company Prepares highly motivated students for the rigors of the Basic Reconnaissance Course, as well as Officer Candidate School and The Basic School. In addition to daily physical training, members receive training in water survival skills, land navigation, SCUBA, marksmanship, rappelling and small fire team tactics.

Fish Drill Team* Special unit composed entirely of freshman cadets. They compete in precision drill competitions around the country and have gone on to win the national championship almost every year since they were created in 1946.

Bataan Memorial Death March The Bataan Memorial Death March is a challenging march through the high desert terrain of White Sands Missile Range, N.M., conducted in honor of the heroic service members who defended the Philippine Islands during World War II, sacrificing their freedom, health and, in many cases, their very lives

OR Simpson Society Recognizes and rewards cadets with a cumulative GPR of at least 3.4 who foster new ideas of academic achievement, leadership and character in the Corps of Cadets and promote scholastic excellence through academic related projects including tutor assistance and operation of a study lounge for all cadets.
