Howdy Future Nighthawk Parents!

Below is information regarding Freshman Orientation Week (FOW). This is the primary training week used to immerse incoming freshmen into the Corps' traditions, schedule, and expectations. There is much to learn and much expected of these incoming cadets. The focus of the week will be learning to wear the Corps uniforms, basic Drill & Ceremony skills, and how they will operate day-to-day in the Corps' structured lifestyle.

Freshman Orientation Week
This week is a rigorous ten hour a day training period, where freshmen are "culture shocked" into the Corps. They will learn how to properly and professionally address upperclassmen, how to utilize their chain of command, and what it means to be a member of the Corps. They will learn some of the Corps' values, the proper wear and upkeep of uniforms, procedures for eating in Duncan Dining Hall, and get their first "taste" in what it means to be part of the Freshmen Class of 2015!

Fall Semester 2011
This will be a busy, stressful, and exciting time for your son or daughter. With the stresses of their first year in college such as midterms, new class schedules, and living on their own; comes the added challenge of Corps training. The Corps training will focus on improving academics through the 3rd Wing Tutoring System, increasing physical fitness standards through the use of CrossFIt training, and overall leadership development through team-building exercises.

Along with all of this, it will be another Texas Aggie Football Season! You will be receiving e-mails with information about Squadron 23 BBQ's before each game. Details will follow.

All of this being said; your cadet will be quite busy throughout the fall. If you ever need to check in on your freshman, or would like an update to see how they are progressing in our standards, you may contact me at any time. There may be times your cadet is discouraged or bogged down with classes or is feeling overwhelmed with Corps expectations. Parental support is key to their success freshman year. We will be reminding them of how the Corps helps their long-term goals, but any added encouragement from family members back home is most welcome.

You will be receiving e-mails from me at a minimum of once a month with updates about the freshmen and upcoming events.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns!
